The Overlook, Montaoine

Still really cold with an icy wind our constant companion of the first few days. Today was a rest day for the horses so we headed for Siena.

It’s amazing to visit the Piazza del Campo, where they hold the Paleo horse race in July. How on earth they cope with the sharp bends bareback is anyone’s guess.

We then popped back into San Gimignano, so L could make the comparison between the two. A unanimous vote for San G!

These images were both from this morning, before breakfast. The main image is from a delightful little piazza looking north from a high vantage point. The other a poppy field we’d noticed when we arrived on Saturday.
