Christmas Eve Eve skies

No snow in the air tonight. These skies are across the street and over the water, and I had to get up on the roof to get a shot with no telephone wires mucking it up. And here I sit inside the house again only a few minutes later, and the sun has almost gone down completely. Winter solstice was two days ago which means two days toward longer days again, but what's that, 45 seconds of light at this point? It's ok with me, as I rather enjoy the darkness of winter, for a little while. My nature can be pretty hunkered down and quiet and to myself. Last night we celebrated the Christmas spirit with John's family at his mom and dad's house in Cumberland. It was warm and jolly and filled with laughter and everyone was so happy and at ease. Not a huge crowd, just his own family of origin and their families, and his aunt. Today I feel a need to regroup and gather the energy for the next few days. My girls won't arrive from their father's until mid-Christmas Day. Leaves me feeling a little blue on the inside. They seem perfectly happy, though. This helps.
Frankly I'd rather be posting pretty girlie faces on my blip today than the clouds in the sky marking the season and the time of day.

I think we'll cozy up to bootlegged Downton Season 3 - thank you Kitty H! It's the little things. And Blip is here to help us remember that.
