Woodpecker on the menu and the three baby peregrine chicks were hungry. Dad had been out hunting responding to the cries of mum on the scrape and I saw the pass over in mid-air tho' not seeing what it was for lunch. All were fairly fed which was interesting, not one left out and what a well behaved family! What did make me laugh, was the middle chick was so full at the end of the feed that he collapsed backwards  and just lay there tummy bulging against his sibling. 

The distance across the gap to see the nest was quite substantial and even with a 1000mm reach I still had to close crop the shot here. 

Disturbingly there were ropes found leading down to the nest - seemingly a well thought out job to raid it. Worrying, saddening, disturbing and hateful. They have been removed.  I am just sincerely hoping that these chicks make it out into the wild here! Rather than the warden this morning being a jobsworth  getting his knickers in a twist about people avoiding car parking charges by parking on the nearby lane, he would well have been better employed on guard. Being such an important nest site you would think that there would be some sort of surveillance. I have this awful feeling that these people will try again!
