An enjoyable wander along the west side of Thirlmere which was made better still by some footpath improvements which meant we weren't having to avoid the usual muddy patches.
There were lots of orange tip butterflies but none settled so no photos.
Later, traffic came to a halt on the A591 because a family of Greylag Geese were crossing the road. Having discovered there was nowhere to go on the other side (just a ditch then a vertical rocky section) they obviously decided to return and we saw a blue van man stop, pick the goslings up one by one and put them on the wall on the reservoir side of the road. I hope they were reunited with their parents.
