The Old Boat
It has been such a glorious sunny day, but I have seen very little of it - all day inside in Manchester City Centre.
So after a salad for tea, we headed off for a walk along the River Weaver. A fabulous evening.
I have photographed this boat loads of times over the years. It used to be much more colourful, but the paint continues to peel and fade. A silver birch is now growing in the middle of it (not sure how that works). Eventually it will keel over into the river I guess.
We wanted to see and hear sedge warblers. We saw and heard many, as well as whitethroats, reed warblers, and all the other usual suspects. I took a photo of stripy great crested grebe chicks nestling down on their mother's back as she paddled along, and missed one of their father catching a fish. But nowhere near close enough to be presentable here.
