Grace Petrie - Queer as Folk
I’ve waxed lyrical about Grace Petrie on several occasions in this journal, and I'm about to do it again!
She was on fire in Liverpool last night and the packed crowd at the Philharmonic Music Room just kept fanning the flames!
Protest singer, folk hero, style icon, raconteur, humourist, swearer-extraordinaire! Is there nothing this woman can’t do? Well, if her song ‘Nobody Knows That I’m a Fraud’ is anything to go by, she reckons there’s plenty https://youtube.com/watch?v=nNtI_67O8us
I beg to differ!
I was lucky enough to speak to her after the show and tell her how important her songs are in these uncertain times and how personally significant her magnificent song ‘Black Tie’ is to me, in particular. https://youtube.com/watch?v=mzU7aIk1dGI I know I’ve linked to it before and I’m sure I will again!
I’m also always moved by her song about her niece ‘Ivy’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=uS775qdnXSo which resonates deeply with me and never fails to make me think of my own, much-loved, niece.
Cheers, Grace! Long may you deploy those “three chords and the truth”! (See also the Extra pics)
In other news... I start my new job tomorrow. Yikes!
