Riquewihr

We've had a lovely day exploring Riquewihr today - it's great as our apartment is literally within walking distance of the centre, so we could come and go easily. And it didn't rain!

We took Louis out with us this morning but it was so busy that I was worried about him getting stood on. So we took him for a walk away from the centre of the town and then took him back to the apartment so that we could go back and enjoy the Christmas market without worrying about him.

It really is a beautiful little place with nooks and crannies everywhere, so rather than one big Christmas market there were stalls throughout the streets and lots of lovely little shops selling typical Alsatian products.

For lunch we went to a 'Winstub' which is basically a wine cellar that serves Crepes and Tarte Flambee's - We all had a Tart Flambee and shared a bottle of Pinot Blanc. The wine was really good and I passed comment, to which I was told that they have a shop next door where they sell it. We went in and bought two cases to take home :-)

We then dropped mum back off at her apartment, picked up Louis and went back out with him, by which time it was starting to get dark. It was lovely to get some shots of the town with all the Christmas lights, but it was even busier!

So we're now back at the the apartment - we've brought some DVD's and we're having a nice relaxing night with wine, cheese, foie gras and the usual Christmas nibbles.

It's Christmas Eve tomorrow - hope you've all been good and Santa brings you lots of goodies!
