Horner Water
We had a picnic lunch at Webber’s Post on Exmoor then walked through Horner Woods with its ancient trees and previously pollarded oaks . The light was beautiful.A visitor asked me about ‘The General ‘ which is apparently a 500 year old oak tree which I’d never heard about but which according to the National Trust is above East Water in the Woods .
Many of the paths have Victorian names associated with the Acland family who gave the land to the NT . For example ‘Cats Scramble ‘ which was the name of their pony .
