Disappearing Mer de Glace

Up early & up the mountain on the wee train! Views so beautiful back into the valley!
Sadly the Glacier is disappearing! Rapidly !
Alighting from the train the rain started ! Coffee first then skies cleared we took the gondola down toward the glacier then walked 548 steps down & into the ice tunnel ! It’s truly remarkable! Colour is exactly this beautiful blue/green! Walked back up all the steps to the gondola ! So fortunate weather wise as we walked to restaurant rain sleet & snow shower!! Lovely lunch then back down the valley on the train, the weather was so sunny & clear we decided to hike up part of one the mountains sides! ....... huge sleet shower caught us just as started our descent ..... to say we were wet was an understatement!!
Dried out back at hotel change of clothes & off to dinner!!
