According to yesterday's Times "stale Italian bread studded with currants and popular with the middle classes".
However this one didn't come from Waitrose but was made from first principles.
If you've got a day to spare it's a doodle.

The snarfers are coming in the next few days so I don't expect any of it to see in the New Year.

Now for the amaretto cream......
