Ducks galore

We had more showers in the morning, but it cleared up in the afternoon, so I decided to go for my usual loop walk through the rec ground, down to the Horn Lane bridge, through the churchyard and back via the High Street and the river walk. I was delighted to see the mandarin back again! It was very shy, and quickly swam off to hide under the overhang along the edge of the river. 

Further along the river, I saw a lovely family of mallards, with the mum shepherding her chicks over the weir (see extra). I was also amazed to see a water vole, but it was too quick for me to get a photo.

This evening we went to see Tolkien at the cinema, and we all enjoyed it.
