Communist Christmas
Just like groups of pals all over the world, a group of us get together at this time of year to eat some food and catch-up on what's been going on. The Christmas dinner is always themed (we've done Mexican a few times...) and this year the theme was 'Communist Christmas'.
Now while we could clearly have enjoyed some fantastic Cuban, Chinese or North Korean(?) food, it's perhaps no surprise that we ended up eating Russian. Half way through the epic 5 hour cookathon it did look like it was all going pear shaped but somehow we pulled it out of the bag and every course was excellent:
1. Sarah's borscht to start
2. My goulash with dumplings for main course No.1
3. Brian's pierogi for main course No.2 (today's blip)
4. Ted's white russians for pudding
Each course commenced with a shot of vodka which was actually pretty tasty and complemented the food really well. All in all some fantastic grub and I got to use suet for the first time - YALDI!
Most of the guys we were having dinner with are in some way or other connected with the acting profession. We had the first viewing of a very funny wee short from Ted (starring Brian) last night called Elf for Justice which is well worth a watch!
