For the last month or so I have been opening Christmas cards from friends far and wide. There has been the inevitable 'round robin' that has made me smile particularly as I have been listening to Lyn Truss on Radio 4 (go to BBC Iplayer if you haven't heard it, it's hilarious!) but I've also had news from friends where they have taken the trouble to write a personal note. Yesterday, I heard from a dear person I worked with quite recently whose daughter and family lost everything in the earthquake in NZ last year. The good news is that, at last, they have their own roof over their head ready for Christmas.
I've stopped worrying about whether or not I have enough mince pies to go round.
