Claife Viewing Station

Backblip 7
Last day but no rush to get going so we took the kayaks across Windermere on the ferry and paddled up the lake and among the "Lilies of the Valley" islands.
Picnic by the shore and along to Claife Viewing Station. When The Lakes first became popular the pictoresque views were considered very important and stations were built to see them. The one at Claife had different coloured panels (yellow, orange, green, blue, purple and navy) to "enhance the scene for diferent seasons and weather conditions.
The NT made safe the ruin and have put in the panels as above and provided the small ones of the right colours for you to look through - not sure they do much for teh scenery though! See extra to see what you think.
Then it was back to take down the tent and have an uneventful journey home.
If you've missed some of the Lakes series and would like to see what we were up to they start here
