First Peonies

In September of 2016, my husband and I took a trip along the Hudson River Valley.  We visited the home of Samuel Morse (of telegraph fame) and enjoyed the beautiful gardens.  They are known for their peonies, so while there I purchased 3 tubers and took them home and planted them that fall.  We have been through two growing seasons and are into the third and this year so far, I finally have two beautiful flowers and there are a few more buds.  

This little hoverfly was captured on one of the flowers. I am always tickled if I can see the eye facets.  I have loaded the full flower in extra so you can enjoy it as much as I am.   I am not much of a gardener,  so to have results like this has left me thrilled to pieces.
