Eyes wide open

After dropping off a job to Laura I popped into The Design Museum to see the exhibition about film maker Stanley Kubrick.

The archive belongs to Chelsea School of Art and they have displayed it well here. With everything from production drawings to scripts and props there is a lot to see.

The highlight for me was having a look at the Zeiss Planar 50mm f0.7 which Nasa developed for the Hasselblad taken to the Moon. Kubrick adapted it for his movie camera and shot 'Barry Lyndon' using it. The speed of the lens enabled the film-maker to shoot using candle light.

I thought I had visited the show during a quiet time, however the space was packed with black clad media types sharing anecdotes.

I highly recommend it, but do book first.
