A Day In Bath
After arriving in Bristol yesterday, I left again this morning! But only for a few hours. I left the Campervan behind and took the train to Bath for the day. That’s one of the advantages of ‘urban camping’ - being able to do day trips on public transport.
This morning I met up with my nephew Tim and his wife Kay who live in Bath. They have just done a big extension on their ground floor flat in a Georgian terrace, and I hadn’t yet seen it finished. Their home backs on to the canal so after meeting at the station we walked along the canal for a short distance and watched a boat go through a lock.
After touring their newly fixed up home, Kay and I went out for elevenses and had some delicious cake with our coffee. No need for lunch! They both had to get back to work so I had the whole afternoon free to look around. I’ve been to Bath numerous times but there’s always more to explore. Today I wandered some streets and enjoyed seeing some of the city that is not on the main tourist trail. I browsed a couple of shops including a gorgeous bookshop called Topping and Co. By this time my feet were weary and I was very ready for a cup of tea so it’s a good thing that they offer complimentary tea and coffee to any of their browsers! What great service! I will make sure I come back on my next visit to Bath!
I also had plans to see a friend who has just started a new job in Bath. She and I had dinner after she finished work and caught up with tons of news since we had last seen each other weeks ago. We ate near the train station so that I could easily get back on a train to Bristol after our meal.
It was a fab day out, but I was glad to get back to my cosy Campervan!
