Ian Armit excavated this site back in the 90s looking for a medieval settlement - as hen's teeth they are up here - and instead found a site going back to the Neolithic 5000 years ago, crammed with patterned pottery. 
He could have found just a few pieces of glazed brown medieval pot. You win some, you lose some.
