American beauty

Rather dull today and a chilly breeze. I've been potting up some ferns and primulas and other odd things. I moved this rhododendron to the front door to make the most of it.

It's an unnamed hybrid which is a cross between Rhododendron burmanicum and Rhododendron 'Mi Amor'. The latter is a hybrid between Rhododendron lindleyi and Rhododendron nuttallii, so all three parents are beautiful and the last two are scented. This one has some scent, but not a lot. It's a cross which came from Singing Tree Gardens nursery in California.
