Tiny Tuesday: Boudoir

One of our clematis plants is now flowering, as you can see, it is a lovely dark red shade.  This one grows up against a south facing wall and so it is in a bit of a sun trap.  From the number of flowers it is producing already this year, it seems to love its spot.  

To go back to the politically incorrect days of my youth, this is just the sort of colour that would have been associated with a lady of easy virtue.  In my school days that carnal red would be setting off all sorts of alarm bells for the Christian Brothers that used to teach me, keen to ensure that sex did not rear its ugly head.  Of course, with the benefit of hindsight we now know that so many of them were unfortunately a long, long way away from being the saints in the making that they effectively held themselves out to be. 

I could tell you some sorry tales about those days.  But let us draw a veil over the past - it is after all a lovely red ;-)
