Snarestone Tunnel.
The blip is of a boat leaving the Snarestone tunnel in front of us. The tunnel is a mere 250
yards (225m) or so long nothing compared to the Harecastle but inetersting in its way. Soon we
reached the current end of the cannal. The last 8 miles couldn't be maintained owing to
subsidence caused presumably by the deep coal mines which were one of the reasons the canal was
built. There are ambitious plans to reopen the rest of the route using a disused railway line.
We moored for the night near Stoke Golding where to the south of the village is the largest solar
farm I have ever seen, covering at least 3 fairly large fields.
