Jopen micro brewery
Monday 6th May 2019
The station is near by so, after all the driving, we decided to catch the train into Haarlem so we could explore. We visited the Great Church of St Bavo, with its wonderful organ. Someone was very kindly playing it too. We then had a walk through the streets, making our way to the canal for a boat cruise along the canal network. It was quite interesting so go under all the streets but not as many interesting buildings as I expected.
It was then time for lunch so we made our way to the Jopen micro brewery, which is situated in a redundant church. You can see the copper beer vats behind the bar and the stained glass windows are also still in place, which gives an interesting feeling. I tried on of their beers "Spring", which was wonderful. After lunch we walked back along the canal to the station. A lot of walking today for Mum.
We were home early so after a quick cuppa we took the car out to find some more windmills and came across Zaanse Schans by mistake. We took pictures of the windmills but also decided it was a place we want to go back and explore later in the week. My favourite picture of the day is in the extras.
