The Post Office

We had a more relaxed start this morning with a feast of cheese, meats and tortilla for breakfast, although I, feeling like I’d eaten a whole watermelon, just had a yogurt.
Neil had planned a walking route round the city to avoid the crowds which included the monument for the Madrid bombing in 2004, which was very moving, and a visit to see the Guernica. We’ve been to Picasso’s gallery in Barcelona, but to see the Guernica for real was brilliant.
By tea time we were all a bit jaded but after freshening up headed to an outside cafe by the palace for an aperitif. The very large G&T’s were a perfect pick me up, especially as they free pour the gin.
Next was dinner in the oldest restaurant in the world, where we unashamedly, except for R, ate a whole suckling pig. OMG amazing.
Strolling around the smaller streets with all the tapas bars is great and into the food market for a night cap and desserts.
Another fabulous day. This certainly beats cloudy cold London.
