A day in London, starting with a visit to the V&A for the Mary Quant Exhibition.

As Penney's said, “Hey luv, Mary's here!”

It is a gloriously fantastic exhibition of fashion held together with some heart-warming stories of what this new look, new production methods and complete upheaval of the status quo meant for so many young women.

Here are just some of the “Mary” quotes from today;

“Mary Quant blasted a hole through the wall of tradition.”
“We knew we had to do things ourselves or nothing would happen at all.”
“I didn't have time to wait for women's lib.”
“The whole point of fashion is making fashionable clothes available to everyone.”
“Snobbery has gone out of fashion.”
“Fashion, as we knew it, is over. People wear now exactly what they feel like wearing.”
“Fashion is not frivolous, it is part of being alive.”
“I didn’t want to grow up, perhaps that's something to do with it.”

And then a wander through London to the Thin House & Westminster Cathedral with a view of a company of touring Penny Farthings along the way. See extras.

Fabulous!
