Saturday: Cinco De Mayo (Almost)
I woke up this morning feeling ready to go home. In the last five weeks we have been to the UK, Napa, Nelson and Denver. All have been great but it's time to slow down a little.
Does anyone remember 'Blowfish'? He was one of my favourite blippers, back in the day, but he stopped in 2015. I think he lives in Denver now. I kept thinking it would have been cool to have run into him.
We checked out of our apartment just before 1100. It was fine but a little odd - there were no staff and everything was done through a series of emailed instructions and texts. Consequently, there was no possibility to leave luggage so we deposited it in a stored luggage van near Union Station. I was convinced the van was going to drive off and we'd never see our luggage again but, needless to say, we were reunited lwithout incident.
On our journey down 16th Street this morning, we ran into a Cinco de Mayo parade, complete with vintage cars. We watched for a while and then went to the Civic Centre where there were more Cinco de Mayo events going on. We had intended to go to the Art Museum but the weather was glorious so we opted to stay outside (it was snowing earlier in the week - the weather here is something else!).
A lateish lunch, a train ride back to the airport and we are now back home.
It's been a great trip. I really like Denver but it's nice to be back home. Apart from anything, Denver's altitude dries you out like you would not believe - I must have gone through a shed load of moisturiser, lip salve and hand cream.......
Some extras in extras.
