Colorado - Montrose, Ouray and Telluride

We spent several hours this morning at the  Museum of the Mountain West at Montrose.  It was outstanding!     Many old buildings that form a small town were moved to this location and  have been restored with memorabilia from the late 1800s and early 1900s.     A treasury of settlers and ranchers  in the old west.    The morning light was great on these cowboy items so that became my blip.

After the museum we drove to Ouray which sits at the base of the Million Dollar Road..a steep, high, winding mountain road that goes to Durango.  We did not go there!    However, we did go to the Box Canyon Waterfall.  A short walk on a metal grid hanging on the side of the mountain took us to the waterfall!  It was roaring!    Diane is a little hesitant about high places but she made the walk and got her photos!!     We should have taken a selfie of all of us on the viewing platform!   In the extra see this fall and the bridge that is over the top of the falls...we did not take that trail!!   

Then we drove to Telluride.  A small unique ski town surrounded by mountains.  In the extras is a photo of the mountains along the way and then of the main road in town.   The town is actually on the other side of the mountains we saw on the drive there.   It was different and I was glad to see it but it is not anywhere I would visit again.  

Had a late lunch/early supper and are having a fairly early night!   Tomorrow we head over to Moab, Utah to meet up with the group of photographers and the workshop leader who will be taking out to learn star photography!    It will be nice to stay at the same location for five nights.

We have driven about 400 miles here in Colorado.  Not really that far but we have traveled from the eastern side to the western side on backroads.
