BAR-TAILED GODWIT (Kuaka)

A most remarkable Alaskan Migrant - they arrive in New Zealand from mid-september to early October and leave again in March. Some Juveniles winter over and this is a couple of them.  The female is on the left and the male on the right.  The female has the bigger bill (.41cm) and the male (.8.5cm)
