One boy and his umbrella

Not the best way to start a new month. Ottawacker Jr. is still sick, coughing and spluttering, with nary a minute free of it.

And, of course, the floods in Ottawa are creeping ever closer. Not that we are affected where we live, but the sights of raging torrents under bridges, of houses only recognizable by their roofs, and of pompous provincial pricks pontificating and cutting disaster relief funding is increasingly worrying. 

But as long as you have a bright yellow umbrella, all is well. It's great to be a six-year-old boy. Being a parent of one is a little more worrying.
