Out and about
Had a great day travelling round Allerdale, ending up in the delightful Maryport.
The town was established around AD 122 as one of several Roman localities called Alauna. It was a command and supply base for the coastal defences at the western extremity of Hadrian's Wall.
Travelling round this part of Cumbria is so much fun as there are so many little roads to explore although, it’s not so much fun when you meet another car coming the other way and there is no passing place nearby.
Another day of Cumbrian fun tomorrow.
I hope you have enjoyed today too.
