Can you tell I'm not a botanist yet?

Question.

Do apple trees look like oaks when they're wee, or is the shade of apple trees a good nursery for baby oaks?

Cut a swathe through a largely untamed part of the garden to get to a gangly raspberry vine and noticed at least four of these little seedlings/saplings struggling through the long grass. 

They've clearly just started life, as we have here in Normandy. It'd be great to have a little nursery of these guys and watch them mature, just as I hope to do one day.
