Lost Roadrunner
Where would you not expect to see a roadrunner? On the tiptop of the roof of a house at least 100 yds/92m away. Beth was cleaning in Mom's bedroom and I was on the other side of the house. Since she was closer to a rear window I called out to her incredulously. Was that a roadrunner on the roof? She looked and thought it was just a dove. But I would recognize the shape of that head anywhere. No time to set up my camera and 400mm lens onto a tripod so I tried some hand-held shots. Between my shaky hands (way too heavy for me) and the distance, I had to crop the heck out of them. Rather than post a teeny photo, I thought I would take a chance on a collage. The quality isn't close to my standards for a blip, but holy sh*t! it was a roadrunner on the roof of a house!
One thing to add is that I am positive it is a young one. Adults should have a short blue stripe along the white stripe behind the eye plus the little thing's feathers don't seem to be very thick. I haven't a clue how it got up there but maybe it was the best vantage point to find its mama.
Two gold fish are in a tank.
One looks at the other and says, “You know how to drive this thing?!
