Birchcliffe Centre
Spent most of today here in the Birchcliffe Centre interviewing/chatting with a local resident whose father used to be caretaker here when it was a functioning Chapel. Some very interesting details were revealed for the Archive.
The building opened in 1898 as Birchcliffe Baptist Chapel and finally closed for worship in 1974.
After extensive work inside the Centre is now home to the Pennine Horizons Digital Archive and the Hebden Bridge Local History Society, along with a number of other tenants. The auditorium, mezzanine and yoga studio are all available for hire.
