The Old Post Office

We had a lovely day, today, just mooching around Kirkby Lonsdale and its environs. In the early afternoon, we went down to the pub where Abi works and had lunch there. It was great to see her so happy and relaxed, so confident in what she was doing. (To think it was only a year ago when she was standing outside of cafés and bars, summoning up the courage to go in, and then running out in tears because she was so nervous. Such a brave and determined young woman.)

After lunch, we went out to the farm shop at Ireby Green to pick up ingredients for tonight's vegetarian lasagne, and then rewarded ourselves with a drink at the Old Post Office in Ingleton, which is a lovely little spot. (I blipped about it recently and Hannah wanted to see it for herself.) Here's Milly, waiting for her coffee and reading on her phone.

Reading: 'Shriekback: Selected Lyrics' by Barry Andrews and Carl Marsh. Shriekback are a sadly overlooked band, probably best known for nearly troubling the charts with "Hand On My Heart', although 'Lined Up' is a great place to start. This book, as its title implies, contains some of their lyrics but I bought its for the notes on each song and devoured it in a handful of sittings today. I loved it.
