Muguet
Today is a labour day in France, a national holiday, and the tradition is that people buy each other small bouquets of lily of the valley to bring good luck. I photographed a few different muguet sellers and this is my favourite, of a couple contemplating a muguet table at Place de la Contrescarpe, quite early this morning. There is another seller behind this young woman, and a 3rd table set up and staffed by red cross volunteers a little further along.
We visited the Musée Maillol today where we saw the Emil Bührle collection -- it was a great show. On our way back, we saw maybe 20 police vans with officers in riot gear, heading from Montparnasse in the direction of rue Saint-Marcel where we later learned that tear gas was used to disperse the marchers and protesters.
