Fail
Did we buy a Christmas tree too chunky to fit into the container?
Did we leave sorting it out until after dark?
Do we do our sawing with the tree half-balanced on one precarious garden chair?
(Have we left the garden furniture out for the winter?)
Do we have our hair (long enough to get caught in the saw) hiding what we are doing?
This is my daughter - this year's tree technician and artistic director. You might not believe that in one of my previous incarnations I taught woodwork to five-year-olds and spent the first class teaching them how to be safe with tools. Daughter wasn't in my class. But as I write she's doing a great job of winding the lights that work (yes! we have found a set of lights that work!) round the tree.
Daughter has claimed editorial rights over this text and insists she was perfectly safe despite the lack of hard hat, goggles, hi-vis vest...
The days now start getting longer! Yippee!
