Life's Little Moments

See you in the fall...

The numbers of White-throated Sparrows are dwindling as they all head north to their breeding grounds.  Still, there were a handful in the garden this morning, practicing their sweet songs and filling up on bird seed.  This particular individual is the tan-striped form, duller in color but still showing a faint yellow "brow".  For the more common brightly hued form, see my journal from 18 February

I made the finishing touches to my Monarch Butterfly presentation for tomorrow night with updates on some of the stats from this past winter.  The news from Mexico where our Eastern Monarchs overwinter is optimistic with numbers estimated at 300 million, up from 93 million the prior winter.  But the population is still considered to be quite fragile, so we will see what this summer brings.  Anyway, looking forward to doing the program.

Also working on my Costa Rica program, gathering the images I want to use.  Daunting, but also fun.

Gym today for cardio and weights - day 1 for the week.

First female hummingbird was at the feeders this morning - what a nice way to start my day.
