Streakers everywhere!
We weren't quite sure where to look tread!
The upper moors were littered with green hairstreaks doing their best to find a patch of sunshine in the cloud inversion, right at the very top of the moors. There must have been 50-100. Given I've only ever seen two, this was quite an exciting morning.
I watched one, like a windsurfer, haul its sails up behind it onto the top of a grass stalk and tack into the sun to warm its solar panels. It was too chilly for it to fly but the next ones I saw were higher into the sunshine and thankfully flitted off as our feet went down.
This little fella was the next obstacle - right in the middle of the path. So I carefully picked him up and found him a quiet corner by a shady wall.
