Approach of the White Nights

Our nearest lake on a late evening walk. Everything is very still and the air feels cold. There is still ice on the lake, and when the sun goes down the cold creeps up out of the soil and water. The water level is very high, not because of rain (we've had no rain for weeks) but because of the spring melt.
It's 21:50 and still a fair bit of light in the sky. It still gets properly dark but those white nights will soon be here. :-)
