Glenelg, Holdfast Bay
After a lazy morning, catching up with sleep and laundry, we headed to the coast by tram. Flocks of gulls everywhere, just as at any seaside resort, but my AU$35 Ozzie Birds Field Guide earned its keep again by informing me that these are Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) and that those with brown markings on the wing are juveniles.
We had a look round the Bay Discovery Centre (in a lovely old building that was once the Town Hall) and learned something of Holdfast Bay's history. The thick cloud thinned out as the afternoon wore on leading to blue skies and sunshine. So ... another lovely day! And I do love how the town's name is a palindrome: Glenelg.
