Release the books

This weekend the book club were leaving books around Manchester - on trams, in cafes, on tables in bars - all to raise awareness of the food bank we support.  Each book is left somewhere with a book mark asking people to enjoy the book and to consider donating to the food bank if they feel able.

I 'lost' four books today and have another four to leave tomorrow.  When I left one of the books on a tram seat this morning, a man ran after me to say that I had forgotten my book!

We must have left almost 100 books last year and one was picked up a famous photographer.  She said she could have put £50 in the pot but instead offered a day of her time for free and an exhibition was born.  Hidden Faces was a series of photographs where women that used the food bank were photographed with their faces were hidden, but the images were really powerful and certainly told a story.

Who knows who might find a book this year.

Had a lovely lunch out for my friend's birthday - and a few cocktails!
