Shades Of Grey
There was disappointment for some locals this morning when, after the long awaited opening of this new shop on the High Street, they discovered it only sold "bespoke second-hand furniture" and other "up-cycled" items - nothing to get the pulses racing at all :)
On the subject of disappointment, I had to give the park run a miss this morning as I still haven't shaken off this chesty cough and cold.
The worst disappointment of course came this afternoon when Yeovil managed to surrender a two goal lead away at Northampton then Macclesfield scored a late winner to condemn us to relegation to the National League after 16 years in the Football League. A grey day indeed for the football club and supporters.
The writing has been on the wall for the last few seasons when we've managed to just escape the drop but it proved beyond us this year. Too many years of the owners being unable or unwilling to invest properly in the team or management and refusing to replace a manager who clearly wasn't up to the job until it was far too late.
We can only hope the proposed takeover still happens and the new owners live up to their promises, otherwise we could keep on sliding downwards.
The only consolation is that next season I get the chance to catch up with my old friend Mart at Torquay and we both get the chance to return to the team we supported together as boys, Bromley FC.
We'd gone over to Kate's to help her put up some photos and wall art, which at least help me take my mind off the unfolding drama.
