Ancient and Modern

Today a distant shot of Lighthouse and Castle Cornet nestling together on a relatively calm sea...always amazes us how quickly it settles after the wind drops though, I am sure it will perk up again shortly.
Remember "spot the ball" well if you can see my navy blue hat in the sea on this blip do please let me know, and I will be down there in a trice to nab it. Problem is, it has got a taste for freedom now.
Ancient and modern because, although the houses in the foreground are quite old, they are certainly usurped in the age competition by the ancient castle.
For those unfamiliar, the bay in the foreground which is very sheltered is Havelet Bay, a great playground for youngsters in dinghies. A few years ago the Guernsey States agreed to build a nice new slipway which is just to the left of the castle. This is used primarily by dinghy sailors as it gives them a direct route down to Havelet bay avoiding the danger of exiting the main harbour...good bit of forward thinking.
