Playhouse Creatures
Today's the day . . . . . . . . to act
A performance tonight in Moniaive of a play by April de Angelis called 'Playhouse Creatures'. The year is 1660 and the King, Charles II, has allowed women to perform on the stage for the first time. It's based on fact - one of the characters in the play is Nell Gwyn - and it tells the story of the pioneer actresses.
It's a story that was funny, bawdy but often very moving - and expertly performed by everyone in the cast. A very classy performance that we were privileged to witness . . . . . . . . .
