I went into the city tonight to check out the lights, perhaps to get a photo of children in front of the David Jones windows, with the gawp of awe. (Thank you, Colin:).)

In fact, it was more like the Easter Show.
The streets were filthy and even early in the evening there were drunks everywhere.
God, I sound like a grumpy old woman.
Wait a minute, I am a grumpy old woman.

Wandered through Hyde Park and noticed hundreds of people looking up at St Mary's Cathedral.
The facade of the church was lit up with a light show: Christmas messages; flowers; works of art.
Now to confirm my grumpy status, I'm not sure about all these light shows.
They always seem to be on buildings which are already beautiful in their own right.
But I think I'm in a minority of one with this view.  Certainly most seemed overawed by the spectacle.
Anyway, I decided to get closer and climbed the steps to get a detail of the lighting and  then became part of the light show.
Yours,
The Grinch
