Ol' Blue Eyes

Feeling gobsmacked by yesterday's shingles shot, achy and tired, but proud in an odd sort of way: it's not easy here to get the shot--we've been on a waiting list at Costco, of all places, for several months. So I feel like I've accomplished something merely by waiting it out. A strange little triumph.  And then I got my eyes dilated this morning, always disorienting. So I was back in my favorite chair in the garden, listening to the birds and the bees. This guy was pretty big and pretty loud, buzzing in the salvia. As I looked at the photo, I realized it has blue eyes! Could that be? Yes indeed, Melissodes stearnsi. Who knew?
