Border Beauty
In thirty plus years of growing alpines I have rarely grown any of the many Auricula varieties. A cult plant in a small way, with a dedicated following, these dainty little primulas are sometimes displayed in an 'Auricula Theatre', a display of shelves, usually built into a box-like structure. I have weakened in recent years, acquiring one or two through plant exchanges. I really like this one, flowering here for the first time, Auricula 'Border Beauty' .... a beauty indeed.
At home for just three days this week, I have been busy in the garden, tidying, weeding and potting on more of the (too) many lots of seedlings. Many alpine plants start off as very small seedlings but with a relatively large root system. In the extra pic some pots awaiting attention .... yes, there are tiny seedlings in all of them!
