Common Sandpiper

It was a wet morning and although it dried up at lunchtime it was still windy and overcast. I was a bit down hearted as there were only seagulls and ravens about in this weather, then a movement on the beach caught my eye. A bird I hadn't seen before. I was wondering what it was. From a distance it looked like a Redshank or Greenshank but it was too big, when it flew it looked like a Turnstone. It was the same size as a Turnstone but the wrong colouring. When I got back to the office I did a bit of investigating and discovered it was a common Sandpiper. Lucky me.
