Logan tree

A feature of today's tour of Logan Gardens.
Pictured is the Argentinian shrub Polylepis australis, growing against the west side of the Walled Garden. A member of the rose family, this plant also claims the woody flowering plant ‘high altitude record’ being reported up to 5,000m in the Andes.
It is noteworthy for its insulating dramatic flaking red-brown papery bark.
