Hide & Seek
Ethan is choked with the cold at the moment. I'd promised I would take him swimming today and thought twice about it due to this, but decided to go along and see how he was. We also met up with my friend Lisa and her wee girl Lucinda there. Lucinda is really confident in the water and I hoped this would rub off on Ethan. It seemed to do the trick because after playing up for me a wee bit and refusing to swim as well as he can, after 10 minutes or so in her company he was jumping in the deep end of the pool and doing much more swimming by himself!
The pool was very quiet today and I ended up chatting to 2 of his previous swimming instructors. I've signed him up for more classes starting next month. One of the instructors suggested putting him in the next level of class which would mean him going in the water without me, to see if that would build his confidence any more without him going back to clinging to me. Not sure I'm ready for him to do that though so we've agreed we'll do 2 or 3 classes in his old block and then perhaps try him in 1 of the next level to see how it goes.
We then had a quick lunch in the M&S cafe before heading up to his new nursery for the first of his settling in sessions. I stayed with him today and we spent an hour there. He was really keen to go (I had to laugh when he said to me very seriously beforehand "there might be toys there mummy!") and enjoyed being there, although he stuck by my side for a lot of the time. His wee pal Logan also goes there and it made me laugh that they completely ignored each other for the first half hour before deciding to play with each other after all!
This evening he was playing hide & seek with myself, hubbie, Granny and Grandpa. This game went on for ages and I think he would have played all night if we'd have let him!
A very tired Ethan went to sleep within a minute of his head hitting the pillow at 8pm tonight. I think an energetic day coupled with the fact he didn't have a daytime nap today have contributed to this!
