Night lights

Lots of lights have gone up in the area where I live. Not sure whether it’s for the tourists - next week is Golden Week, one of the peak holiday periods in Japan. Alternatively, the lights could be connected to the imperial succession. The current Emperor abdicates at the end of this month and his son takes over in May 1st, starting a whole new era. The calendar reverts back to year one and will be known as Reiwa 1.
